| JUNGLE
CAT |
| |
The
Jungle Cat or Felis Chaus is the ancestor of the exciting new breed
the CHAUSIE.
Large,
slightly tufted ears and a narrow pointed face give the Jungle Cat
a sphinx-like appearance, especially in Pakistan and India, where
it occurs in a jet black phase. Found on three continents - Africa,
Asia, and Europe - the jungle cat has one of the widest distributions
of any small cat. |

|
These
photos are both female Jungle Cats as well.
You
can see the modified wedge shape to the head, the rounded whisker
pads and beautiful
ear size and set. |

|
This
is a 14 month old male Jungle Cat.
Notice
the bold markings on the inside of his front legs. He has a
triangular head shape with a full muzzle that blends into the
triangle.
He
has nice large ears and ear tufts. He is a beautiful sandy brown
ticked color with the
lighter underside and all white muzzle. |

This
is a close up of an adult Jungle Cat male's head. |
This
is the same male from a different angle. |

|
| This
is a 2.5 year old male Jungle Cat. Again,
you can see good length of leg on this boy.
His
head shape is very pronounced. He has good width between the
eyes and a fleshy nose. His eyes have the hooded "half
mast" look that many wild cats have while at rest.
His
ears are held out at a bit of an angle in this photo but he
is also a mature male and his ears will be spread a bit further
than a young cat.

|
This
is the same Jungle Cat, as a younger cat, looking down.
This
photo of him shows the lines of the wedge and how the muzzle
fits into the cheeks.
It
also shows the width of nose between the eyes and the nose leather
rolled a bit over the top of the end of the nose. |

This
is a year old silver tip Jungle Cat male.
This
color is found in the jungle cat and not in the domestic of
any breed that we are aware of.
This
boy has nice tall ears set fairly high on his head..good length
of leg and a very elegant look about him. |
|
This
is the same silver tip Jungle Cat as a mature adult. You can
see how his head has spread and his ears have spread a bit as
well.
You
can also see how his silver coloring has
developed in this photo. |
